The Olympic black pig fed with olives is recognized by the EU as a separate breed.
The Fotiadis family farm has been located since 1925 under the mythical Mount Olympus - a location with a complete absence of industry.
The black pig has been known in Greece for over 3500 years and is the ancestor of European breeds - based on discovered remnants of farming near the city of Drama (northeastern Greece).
Partial free-range farming, feeding with olives and local herbs gives the meat an exceptional taste.
The meat contains up to 57 times more omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, as well as antioxidants, polyphenols, iron, etc.
Since 2014, the farming method has been patented in Greece under number 1008709, globally PCT/GR/2015/000057.
Based on the analysis of meat samples, it is the only certified farm that feeds its pigs with olives.
